MT Selection Process
Application
If you’ve decided that British American Tobacco is a company for you, the first step to apply for the programme is to fill in the application form in English.
There are three main sections in the application form – personal details, education and your motivation to join us. Please do not forget to send your CV as well. We will then review your CV and application form and if you match the set of skills we are looking for we will invite you to the next stage, which is psychometric testing.
Psychometric Testing
Psychometric testing includes numerical and verbal reasoning tests. You will be able to access these through your account page on this website. Where available, you will be able to take tests in your local language.
We would recommend that you take the tests in a quiet environment where you will not be disturbed. Also try doing some psychometric tests before the British American Tobacco one in order to increase your chances of success.
Competency-based Telephone Interview
If you are successful in the psychometric tests, we will invite you to participate in a competency-based telephone interview. In most cases this telephone interview will be conducted in English. You will be able to view available interview timeslots on your account page and sign-up for a time-slot that is convenient for you.
This interview will assess your key leadership and functional competencies as well as your motivation to join British American Tobacco.
Please make sure that you are able to conduct the interview in a quiet location where you will not be disturbed. If you are using a mobile phone, make sure that you have good reception.
Face-to-face interview
If your telephone interview has been successful we will invite you to the face-to-face interview with a Human Resource specialist and a representative from the function that you are applying for. It will be arranged in one of the British American Tobacco offices in the country you have applied for. Above all, during the interview you will have an opportunity to ask questions about the MT programme and the function you are going to join.
Assessment centre
If we feel that you have the right set of skills and motivation for the programme, we will invite you to attend a British American Tobacco assessment centre. Here you’ll be able to demonstrate your skills through a number of stretching, but fun group and individual exercises. The assessment centre will take one day.
Interview with Head of Function
The final stage of the selection process is the interview with your Head of Function. If you are successful, you are joining British American Tobacco!
